EASA Drone Operators Permit Application Workshop
Why?
To fly within the EASA specific category, it is mandatory to have and actively use an approved Operations Manual (handbook). Writing a manual from A to Z (150+ pages) along with a Concept of Operations (ConOps) can easily take an operator four full work weeks. However, these documents, along with several other documents, are essential to successfully submit a permit application to the ILT.
Who is this for?
You can fully outsource a permit application at (relatively) high costs. The disadvantage is that you only read the handbook afterwards instead of understanding it, actually thinking about it, and writing it yourself, from your (organisation’s) perspective and specific tasks and operational wishes. However, doing it yourself is a huge challenge that requires a lot of specific knowledge. Writing a manual and all accompanying documents is quite different from conducting a drone operation.
With the Drone Operators Permit Application Workshop, we help upcoming specific category operators get on their way with their permit application in one and a half days. Templates of previously ILT-approved permit applications are also provided! The workshop is conducted by Dutch Drone Academy in collaboration with DroneConsultancy, our partner for developing and maintaining EASA-compliant manuals.
The workshop
During this workshop, we cover the complete permit application process. The goal is for new drone operators to be able to independently, successfully, and legally conduct operations via this workshop. Questions such as: where exactly is what located and how do I interpret it? What is necessary in a handbook and what is not? What does the complete picture of required documents look like? When do I choose which type of template (STS-01/02 versus PDRA, for example)? When do I need to write a Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA)?
During this workshop, we will not fill out your permit application for you. We explain the ‘playing field’ (and all associated terminology) and provide advice and guidance. Included are customisable templates with filled-out examples for a ConOps, an EU Operations Manual (handbook), and a PDRA/STS, saving you a lot of time. These templates have been used multiple times in ILT-approved permit application processes.

Sensor & Payload Workshop for the DJI M300 and M350
THE INSTRUCTOR & TRAINER
Ruben de Lange has been professionally active in the drone sector for over 10 years. By being at the forefront of drones in the Netherlands, he has built an extensive network and gained a lot of knowledge about the possibilities (and limitations) for the professional use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the most diverse application areas. In addition, he is a licensed (drone) pilot from the early days and has functioned over the years as a drone pilot (Pilot in Command), Safety Manager, Operational Manager, Technical Director, RT Operator, and Payload Operator at several leading organisations in the drone sector. His fascination with technology, engineering, and aviation is applied with great enthusiasm, and he enjoys seeking solutions to complex technical and operational challenges. Naturally, Ruben also has extensive experience working with the DJI M300 in combination with various payloads and sensors.
Who is this for?
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the operation of the DJI Matrice 300 RTK (M300 RTK), its peripherals, and payloads. During the training, all functionalities of the software and hardware will be covered, both in theory and practice. Attention will also be paid to the data collected by the payloads.
