Endorsement Modules for special operations

EASA has formulated extensive remote pilot knowledge requirements regarding the execution of special UAS operations. These are called endorsement modules. The most important ones can be found on this page. The certificate you obtain shows that you possess the desired knowledge and that this has been assessed by a European-designated (remote pilot) training institution.

EASA endorsement module night operations

WHY THIS COURSE?
Depending on the type of UAS operation, additional requirements may be imposed on the remote pilot and the UA-crew. These requirements relate to operation-specific competencies that require both additional theoretical and practical training. EASA has formulated a significant number of endorsement modules that specify the required competencies. One of these endorsement modules pertains to night operations.

Who is this for?

This endorsement module is prescribed by EASA for every person involved in a night operation. This course is suitable for remote pilots who already meet the requirements for conducting operations within the EASA specific category. For this, refer to our remote pilot complete training (RPCT). Besides this, other endorsement modules may be required to become EASA compliant. Think of beyond visual line of sight operations (BVLOS), transport and/or dropping of cargo, and flights over built-up areas and/or groups of people. Ask your Dutch Drone Academy instructor about the best order in which to take these courses.

What does the course consist of?

The course consists of a theoretical and practical part, both of which are concluded with an exam. The theory is provided online and requires self-study. The practical training lasts half a day, including the practical exam.

Topics covered in the theoretical part include:

  • Responsibilities of the remote pilot
  • Regulations
  • Explanation of the uniform daylight period
  • Lighting of the operational volume
  • Navigation lighting of the UA
  • Human Factors (visual scan techniques, night vision, illusions)
  • Understanding and operating night vision equipment

Topics covered in the practical part include:

  • Preparing for the night flight
  • Conducting the night flight
  • Emergency procedures
  • Exam preparation (including letter of recommendation)

What do I get?

  • Theory module in your own online learning environment, including an online exam;
  • A half-day practical training at one of our training locations, including an exam;
  • A certificate of (successful) completion of the EASA endorsement module night operations;
  • The language of instruction for this course and the exam is English.

What does it cost?

Price per person: €1,495.00 excl. 21% VAT

Note:

This endorsement module for night operations is made in accordance with EASA recommendations and is primarily aimed at remote pilots. Depending on the operation, an operator may choose to have other personnel directly involved in the operation also take the course.
